| DEVO's senses add-on to Digital EVOlution (DEVO) Some new Pictures DEVO is an experiment. The outcome is unpredictable, but we can at least try to give this new form of maybe life, a change. They can react on changes in voltage, if the coupling with an sensor is present. But maybe they don't. The idea is to give a evolving fixation or (positive) obsession, their genes mix, mutate, evolve and reproduce (melting) will pass knowledge. My part in this: -practical (the hardware side, to make it possible for the DEVO to experiment with)
-theoretical (the idea behind it, the choises about life and dead, sex and learning abillities)
-catching give them a sort of senses, digital/fysical feelings (?), metal detector, microwave, influence, receive, analyze or play with video, sound, animation? Coupling with other projects in VOID7. | ![]() |
| Progress I've (finally) installed linux on my laptop, so my mobillity and programmability is increased. I'm learning how to program using the C-language, the DEVO is till now written in C and the network coupling will also be. I've made some smal tests, not yet to publish. The interfaceing between the sensors and the DEVO consists of two parts; hardware (the wires, ports) and software (sockets, variables). In the current state of the project it's impossible to tell how DEVO will excist exactly, so work on the network part will be put in the fridge. I've made a metaldetector, which might be used as a sensor. Then when you come closer with your hand (with ring) a magnetic field will be influenced and DEVO will notice it. But maybe I'll go for the SENSITIVE GEOMAGNETIC DETECTOR so you possibly don't have to wear a ring. I'm working on the coupling of a steppermotor and the parallel port of my laptop, for (possible) camera control by DEVO. With their fixation, they could go searching for patterns in the outside world and so feeding themselves and their offspring. I'm also investigating other forms of sensors e.g microwave, ultrasound, infrared (we already have available videostreams), sound. | ![]() ![]() |
